A lovely arrangement or bouquet of silk flowers looks wonderful but when they start to get dusty, droopy and look old you will probably ask yourself “How do you clean silk and Artificial flowers properly?” The first words of advice are, do not leave cleaning your silk and artificial flowers until you can hardly see them under a layer of dust. Preventative care is a far better plan. Here are a few methods of cleaning your silk and artificial flowers.

Using a plastic bag, such as a grocery bag, put in your silk or artificial flowers and then you add a half cup of white rice. Twist or hold the top of the bag closed while you shake it for about a minute. The rice not only knocks the dust off the flowers but the dust also clings to the rice. Remove your flowers and shake them upside down to fluff them up to remove any hidden rice and dust. Check and fix any artificial flowers that you need to reshape a little.

A very easy and fast way to clean your artificial and silk flowers is using plain water. Either you can use the shower or the garden hose outside on a gentle spay. Remember that they are delicate so do not blast them. Spray them for a minute or less and then shake the excess water off them. Place your artificial flowers somewhere warm to dry but we do not suggest direct sunlight as some artificial flowers may fade. If you are concerned about damage, test one leaf first.
